THEME: TRANSFORMATION OF INDUSTRY AND BUSINESS: GLOBALIZATION 4.0
DATE: 15th—16th May 2019 (Geneva, Switzerland).
This meeting has been set up to basically answer two important questions;
- How will Globalization 4.0 affect industries?
- How can the Forum work with business leaders to shape the future of the global economy?
Globalization 4.0 is bringing about pronounced alterations to the existing methods of global governance and collaborations on the international scene, most especially with its fast paced evolution and wide extent of influence, such that major stakeholders are having more vested interested on the future framework of the global economy. Industries currently act on the increasing demand for more effective socially safe policies and sustainable economic growth, while ensuring that business models are being tailored and re-tailored to fit into current trends.
The global economy continues to experience evolving changes in its functionality. The major factors responsible for these changes are environmental challenges, geostrategic competition, economic disparities and disruption in technology. These elements were conceptualized as Globalization 4.0 at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, which held on the 22nd – 25th January, 2019.
The WEF states that it plans to convene the most strategic minds from among the Forum’s members and partners, along with members of its vanguard communities (including Technology Pioneers and Global Future Councils) to engage in thought provoking talk sessions aimed at critiquing and shaping given narratives around the global economy. The two-day programme will address industry-specific issues and the following cross-industry pillars:
• Impact of data usage, data governance and cybersecurity concerns on the future of the digital economy.
• Influence of climate change and the Sustainable Development Goals on the future of investing, infrastructure, manufacturing and consumption.
• Transformation of talent and the impact on employment, skills, societal needs and political expectations on business leadership.
• Implications of volatile geopolitical environments on businesses and how they operate across borders and with other industries.
